Rod MacGregor is the co-founder of GlassPoint Solar, the leading provider of solar to industry. He has launched and scaled five companies globally, served as CEO of three of them, and has raised more than $300M in venture funding over 30 years working across a range of technology sectors. He is now focusing on developing world-class, scalable technology to address the global threat of climate change.

Each of MacGregor’s companies successfully developed an initial concept and scaled it up for mass adoption and high volume manufacturing. MacGregor’s companies have won widespread recognition—from the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer award to the Queen of England’s award for technical achievement.

Under MacGregor’s leadership, GlassPoint was awarded a contract for Miraah; which will be one of the world’s largest solar fields when completed. GlassPoint’s investors include Royal Dutch Shell, the sovereign wealth fund of Oman, and several leading venture capital funds.

MacGregor has led businesses in the UK, USA, Hong Kong, and the Middle East. His companies have created and scaled innovative technologies ranging from miniature motors used in millions of cars to 3D virtual worlds.

Under MacGregor’s leadership, his companies have won investment from leading investors including Kleiner Perkins, NEA, Mohr Davidow, Merrill-Pickard, Softbank, J. Rothschild, British Technology Group, 3i Ventures, and strategic investors including AT&T, Intel, Volkswagen, Daimler Chrysler, SGRF, and Shell.

Originally from Scotland, MacGregor received his B.S. in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow. He learned to fly on a “Flying Scholarship” from the Royal Air Force, and attended University at age 16 on a scholarship award from ExxonMobil.
